    How it works

    1. Paste your text here

Paste or type into the box. The count updates with every keystroke — no button to press.

    2. Read the numbers

Characters with and without spaces, words, sentences, paragraphs and the estimated reading time.

    3. See where it fits

The "does it fit?" list shows how much room is left — or how far you went over — for each network.

    Frequently asked questions

    Do spaces count as characters?

They do. Social networks count spaces, emoji and line breaks against the limit. That is why we show both numbers: with and without spaces.

How many characters fit in an Instagram caption?

2,200 in the caption and 150 in the bio. The list tracks your text as you write and turns red when you go over.

    How is reading time calculated?

At an average of 200 words per minute, a typical reading pace. It is a good estimate for posts, articles and scripts.

Is the text I paste sent to a server?

No. Counting happens in your browser and the text is never stored or sent anywhere. Close the tab and it is gone.

Does it count emoji and accents correctly?

Yes — they count as characters, just like the networks count them. Some emoji weigh more than one character on certain platforms, so leave a little margin.

    What counts as a word?

Any stretch of text separated by spaces or line breaks. "Self-service" counts as one word; numbers count too.
