Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Conversion happens inside your browser, using your own device's processor. No file is sent anywhere.
Which format should I choose?
JPG is the most compatible, great for photos. PNG preserves transparency and is ideal for screenshots. WebP is lighter than both and works in any modern browser. AVIF is the lightest of all, great for the web, but takes longer to generate.
Can it convert iPhone photos (HEIC)?
Not here — HEIC has its own dedicated tool, HEIC to JPG, which handles it in bulk and without fuss.
What happens to transparent backgrounds?
PNG, WebP and AVIF preserve transparency. JPG does not support transparency: the background becomes white, like on a sheet of paper.
Why does AVIF take longer?
It's the newest and most efficient codec — it compresses more, but requires more processing power. The AVIF converter is only downloaded when you choose that format, so the page stays light.
Is there a quantity limit?
Up to 30 images per batch, with a maximum of 50 MB each — a limit to keep your browser from freezing. You can repeat as many batches as you want, for free.
